This program was designed to help with the development of self-esteem, integrity and discipline while stressing the importance of education in a young person’s life. The positive benefits of staying in school will be reinforced throughout this program. The goals are easy to track and verify though ongoing testing and will address other areas of the individual’s education, family, and an acceptable lifestyle.
While the student is enrolled in the Wings program, they will be expected to maintain passing grades in school, exercise proper relationships with teachers, flight instructors, mentors, and parents. There will be weekly or bi-weekly eligibility slips that must be signed by teachers in the educational system as well as flight training educators, combined with both mentors and parents to maintain eligibility in the program.
The student will then begin building flight hours to be recorded in a log book by flying with a certified flight instructor (CFI) while working toward a Private Pilots Certificate. We will monitor his/her progress through various exams. Solo Flight and eventually an FAA Private Pilot Certificate.
The cost in training is minimal in comparison to the long term transformation that can happen with this type of accomplishment. The student can continue in flight training beyond the Privet Pilot License if he/she desires. There may be additional programs/funds or employment available through flights schools, non-profit organizations and aeronautical schools. It is possible that an airline career for the candidate can be attained from this program.
